Custom Modeling & Analytics
For CNP Fraud Management

Whereas custom modeling and analytic risk management solutions were only practical for enterprise organizations and large financial institutions years ago, these advanced fraud management services and techniques are attainable to many large and medium volume merchants, issuers, processors and other organizations today. Just because custom modeling is now more within reach doesn’t mean it is any less complicated, and organizations have many considerations starting with how much they want to manage in-house and how much they want to have provided by third party services.

The focus of this course is to provide in-depth discussions on what custom modeling is while defining the many related terms and concepts pertaining to its use for fraud and risk management. Custom modeling is discussed in the context of how it fits into a fraud solution, what types of organizations use custom modeling and how they use it, and the required components for a custom modeling solution are defined and discussed. Implementing custom modeling for risk management is presented in the context of three different implementations (Buy, Build and Hybrid approaches), while several major custom modeling service providers and types or levels of modeling services are detailed.

UPDATED IN 2020. Updates include an added discussion on the use of fluid thresholds for determining risk as well as an updated overview of the vendors servicing the custom modeling and analytics space. Offered in HTML5 and compatible with all mobile devices.

I have read fraud prevention books but none of them organize or quantify the topics in such a useful and practical way. Books I have come across are often too theoretical and broad, but this is more about solving real business problems.
